about

Dasavidha-rājadhamma

Music Composition “Dasavidha-rājadhamma”, comprising ten originals for saxophone and string quartet (Violin 1 & 2, Viola & Cello), this project inspired by “Yo Soy La Tradición” written by Puerto Rican saxophonist Miguel Zenon who lives and works in New York City.

This project is the combination between classical and jazz music with an exploration of the jazz with strings genre. The compositions used in the method of an integration of string arrangements with the horn voicings rather than the sax blowing over a subtle background, occasional counterpoint but also a convergent unity presented in the form of unisons and extensive catalog arrangements reflect a musical personality that unites classical and jazz influences through contemporary arranging and improvisation.

The project is ten original compositions based on the idea of 10 virtues or duties of the king (Dasavidha-rājadhamma), which composes of:

1. Dāna (charity)
2. Sīla (morality)
3. Pariccāga (altruism)
4. Ājjava (honesty)
5. Maddava (gentleness)
6. Tapa (self controlling)
7. Akkodha (non-anger)
8. Avihimsa (non-violence)
9. Khanti (forbearance)
10. Avirodhana (uprightness)

According to Dasavidha-rājadhamma, is mixed with an interpretation and an analysis of The Royal Compositions of King Rama 9 and comes up with a work of the new compositions.

This creative work representatives the combination and paying homage to musical roots and examining how they fit within classical and jazz music. In addition, it is not only the Ceremony in Remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (His Majesty the Late King Rama 9), but also his love and skill for jazz music manifest through his composition.
